Clark's Dining Room will be permanently closing its doors as of November 2, 2009.

After having been in business for more than ninety years, Clark's Dining Room will serve its final chicken dinner on November first of 2009. Just as with many other businesses in this turbulent economy Clark's has suffered from dwindling customer numbers, increased costs of food, labor and maintenance. Not to mention amplified regulatory fees. Clark's has refused to sacrifice its standards or quality of product and service. In so doing the very labor intensive end products that are provided by Clark's have become obsolete. Any alternate process would not be that which the public has come to recognize as Clark's. This is a very sad day for the Clark family and their employees.

If iron skillet-fried chicken dinners sell for 86 years, why change a good thing? That’s the approach Tom Clark uses for his highly successful Clark’s Dining Room 40 miles east of Columbus on the old National Road. - now old Rt. 40 - in Jacksontown.

Clark once was asked by an approving restaurant reviewer, “Why don’t you open a Clark’s in Columbus?”

Clark’s quick comeback, “Why? Columbus comes to me.”

His proof comes when he scans his parking lot. On any given day, except Monday when closed, Ohio license tags fill the lot. Franklin County is well represented with fried chicken fans, thus supporting his contention that staying put is good business.
